Sardinia on the Map
How can you find Sardinia on a map, e.g. Google Maps?
Sardinia is a rather massive and big island in the Mediterranean Sea. Finding it on the map can't be difficult, even if you haven't heard of it before. Just open any map of Europe, find the Italian boot-shaped peninsula on it. Sardinia should be somewhere in the middle of the "blue". In fact, Sardinia is situated to the South of Corsica, another big island, belonging to France; and to the north-west of Sicily, Italy's biggest island.
Sardinia lies more or less between two great landmasses: the African continent and the European mainland. As D.H. Lawrence put it in one of his classics Sea and Sardinia, Sardinia finds itself "lost between Europe and Africa, and belonging to nowhere". The Sardinian island is easy to find on the map. With its 1'849 km of coastlines, mild Mediterranean climate, large shallow lagoons and dominant Mistral wind throughout the year, Sardinia can be termed a perfect place for sailing and yachting.
